| History • Vietnam community of Georgia (VNCGA) was established in 1990. Efforts of many people representing a number of Vietnamese-American friendship, community and political organizations. This represents the collective efforts of the first Vietnamese-American refugees to create an organization to provide a voice for the community here in the state of Georgia. Since the original refugees here in 1975, the Vietnam-American population here in the capital, Atlanta has grown to more than 40,000 residents. The growth rate of huge amounts created different needs and interests for diverse social and economic factors.
VNCGA It strives to foster and develop partnerships with a variety of important Asian social agencies and organizations of the wider community. The relationship of our work include: Association of Hung Vuong, Hai Ba Trung District, Association, Student Association of GA Tech, and Georgia Secretary of State.
VNCGA program initiatives currently include: arts and culture, access & networking, education and advocacy of social justice. All activities focus on helping VNCGA Vietnam (and other Asian) people overcome challenges and obstacles to progress and contribute more meaningfully to the larger community. VNCGA is a nonprofit organization under Section 501 (c) (3).
VNCGA works in cooperation with community organizations and other Vietnam, private companies, nonprofit organizations and individuals concerning employment, social services and health-related issues.
Mission
To preserve and enrich our cultural heritage through educational initiatives, cooperation with other associations in Vietnam in united action for the benefit of the community of Vietnam; and promotion through cultural interaction and foster mutual understanding and cooperation between Vietnam and the community other communities.
